DawsonyWeb – Client Tutorial Videos
Setup and everyday use.

Give clients a searchable library of short video guides in their own dashboard. Upload your recordings or add YouTube and Vimeo links, then choose who can see them. Keyboard ordering and private completion tracking are included in Free.

Install the plugin

In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for DawsonyWeb – Client Tutorial Videos. Choose Install Now, then Activate.

Alternatively, download the free ZIP using the button on this page. In Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, select the ZIP, install it and activate. You do not need an account or a licence key.

Create your first tutorial

Open Tutorial Videos → Manage Tutorials as an administrator. Add a clear title and description, then choose a video from the media library or enter a supported YouTube or Vimeo URL.

Save your changes and open the tutorial library to test playback. A hosted URL takes precedence if you also select an uploaded video.

Use Up and Down to reorder with a keyboard, or drag the handle. Save Settings to keep the new order. Position changes are announced for assistive technology.

Track your own progress

Open the tutorial library and choose Mark complete when you have finished a guide. The progress summary updates and remains after reloading. Choose Mark incomplete to reset a guide. This is self-reported completion, without watch-time measurement, certificates or course scheduling.

Progress belongs to the current WordPress user on this site and is not a shared client report. Updating a tutorial title, description or video makes it incomplete again; moving it in the order does not. Completion data is stored in local user metadata and removed when the user or plugin is deleted.

Make the library useful

Use short, task-specific titles such as “Update opening hours”. The library search matches titles and descriptions, so include the words your client is likely to look for.

Drag tutorials into the order you want, then save changes. You can also customise the library heading and introduction.

Choose who can see it

Select the WordPress roles that should have access to the tutorial library and save. Administrators retain access to manage tutorials.

Enable the optional dashboard widget if you want another route into the library. Check visibility with an account in the intended role before handover.

Video loading and privacy

YouTube and Vimeo players load after the viewer selects Load video. At that point the video provider receives information such as the viewer’s IP address and browser details.

Uploaded videos are served from your site or its configured media storage. Role settings control access to the library interface; they are not a private video hosting or DRM service.

Troubleshoot playback

Check the source URL and the video’s hosting permissions if a player does not load. Recognised YouTube and Vimeo links can be embedded; other link formats may be offered as an external watch link.

For uploads, select a video attachment and check that its format plays in your client’s browser. Removing the plugin does not delete videos from your WordPress media library.

Updates and support

Updates are delivered through the normal WordPress plugin update screen. Back up your site before updating and test changes on staging where possible. You can enable automatic updates from the Plugins screen if that suits your maintenance process.

If you need help, include the plugin version, WordPress version and the steps needed to reproduce the issue. Remove private customer details, passwords and keys from any screenshot or diagnostic report.
