A custom price history feature for WooCommerce
Bespoke plugin work to record product price changes and present the history by date, delivered through an agency.
The requirement
The requirement was to make product price changes available as a history, rather than only showing the current price. It needed to sit within an existing WooCommerce setup and be usable on a normal site page.
What I built
- Built a dedicated plugin with storage for the product, previous price, updated price and change date.
- Connected price tracking to product save and import hooks.
- Added a shortcode to present recorded changes grouped by date, with product links and WooCommerce currency formatting.
- Kept the feature in its own plugin so the custom behaviour is separate from the site theme.
What this makes possible
The delivered plugin provides a way to store and display recorded price changes inside the existing store. It addresses a specific business requirement through a contained piece of development.
