Laravel operations
Connecting stock, orders and production in Laravel
Operational workflows covering purchasing, inventory movements and production, with checks around the numbers the business relies on.
The requirement
In an operational system, finishing a task can affect stock, purchasing and the next stage of production. Those steps need to agree on quantities, including what has been made, used or wasted.
What I built
- Developed connected workflows for purchase orders, inventory receiving and production work orders.
- Added inventory history that records movements and quantity changes rather than only storing the latest balance.
- Built a production quantity confirmation step so recorded output and waste are checked before a task is completed.
- Added validation for inconsistent quantities and automated tests around production confirmation and inventory workflows.
What this makes possible
The implementation gives staff a defined path through receiving, production and stock changes. Quantity checks sit inside the workflow, and movement history provides a record to investigate when a number needs explaining.
Why the detail matters
The difficult part of a business application is often the handover between steps. I work on those details as well as the screens, so a new feature fits the way the wider system works.
